I am a desk top publisher by trade, only qualifying in 2003. This follows on from my love of digital photography. I am so happy to have been asked to put together a quarterly knitting magazine (I will have to ask if I am allowed to say the name of the mag) ready for the printer. I am brushing up on my DTP skills as we speak. I worked at Southampton University before I moved to Cambridgeshire to be with my Barry. I loved being part of a team and creating the posters, brochures and quarterly newspapers promoting the part-time courses and updating the Uni website for the University. I did try very hard to get a job as a DTP when I first moved here but I guess my age was against me….since then, Barry and I have tried our hand at wedding photography and we both thoroughly enjoy the whole experience.
I absolutely love to be creative, I live to be creative and as I am creating something my mind wonders off and wants to do something else so chaos usually ensues!
I have four children, my eldest daughter, is married and has three darling children. My two boys live with their Dad in Hampshire and my youngest daughter lives there too although she spends all her school holidays and some weekends in between with us. I live for the time that YD comes to stay with me. She is also very creative and we have a great time together. She always wants to start knitting when she sees me with my projects and so we have several started projects here which she never seems to want to finish the next time she comes!
I am getting married to most lovely man in the world on 18th April this year. I still have to make my dress and the bridesmaid’s dresses but I have the patterns and the fabric (ooh it is so beautiful…pure silk!!)so once I make enough space to cut out the pieces I will be well away.
I thoroughly enjoy homemaking too, I look forward to the day when we have our own property to play with. I am trained to hand stitch curtains and I truly love the feel of lined and interlined curtains. The way curtains warm up and cosy a room never ceases to thrill me, however these days, I much prefer small windows to dress, all that crawling around on the floor pinning and measuring is not good for me old knees!
The last three years have been an emotional struggle for both Barry and myself but our love has always got us through…somehow we have survived the scary depths of big dept and divorces, been on emotional roller coasters and got off the ride with smiles on our faces. Now we are looking forward to the future, what a happy place to be!
Without my creativity I would surely have crumbled…the internet is truly a wonderful place, I have (virtuallyand in reality) met so many new, like-minded people from all over the world. Learnt many new skills, got a stash of beautiful yarn ready to make into even more beautiful objects but right now I need more time in which to do just that!
